SUMMARY:Ecological limits & global health - What is the horizon of survival for humanity?
DESCRIPTION:Jean-François Toussaint\, Professor of Physiology\, Université de Paris\, CIMS Hôtel-Dieu\, APHP\, Director of the IRMES (Institut de Recherche Médicale et d’Epidémiologie du Sport).EA 7329\, INSEP \n\n\n\nFor online (live) attendance: https://live.epog.eu \n\n\n\nFor the replay: https://videos.epog.eu \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur world’s climate is changing. Public health is being challenged by the emerging issues brought upon by the Anthropocene: respiratory diseases induced by pollution\, zoonoses related to biodiversity loss\, changing infectious diseases as a results of climate change. By looking at air quality\, nutrition\, infectious diseases\, and human migration\, this course will show you how increases in greenhouse gases impact public health.  \n\n\n\nEncountering several simultaneous risky situations\, mankind may have the choice to ease its future … or not.  \n\n\n\nL’homme peut-il s’adapter à lui-même ? Toussaint JF\, Bernard Swynghedauw\, Gilles Boeuf. SUMMARY:Geopolitics in (ecological) transition
DESCRIPTION:Sébastien Treyer\, Director of IDDRI (Institute for sustainable development and international relations). \n\n\n\nFor online (live) attendance: https://live.epog.eu \n\n\n\nFor the replay: https://videos.epog.eu \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSecurity and power relations between territories\, countries and regions are evolving rapidly due not only to the impacts of environmental degradation and climate change\, but also due to the structural transformation of economies that are necessary for the ecological transition. In this context\, the role of national states is confirmed by international governance arrangements like the Paris Agreement on climate or Agenda 2030 on Sustainable development. At the same time it is also challenged by a variety of other players as well as by the reality of what links ecosystems\, territories and people to one another. This intervention will introduce key questions and critical concepts to understand the reconfiguration of power relations\, competition\, cooperation and conflicts in a world that is transforming.
