Mar­i­ca Fran­gakis, inde­pen­dent researcher. She comes from the bank­ing sec­tor, where she has served in the Research and Plan­ning Divi­sion of the Agri­cul­tur­al Bank of Greece and in the Asset and Lia­bil­i­ties Man­age­ment sub­sidiary of the Nation­al Bank of Greece. Under the SYRIZA gov­ern­ment, she served on the Board of Direc­tors of ALPHA bank, as a rep­re­sen­ta­tive of the Min­istry of Finance. She is a found­ing mem­ber of the Nikos Poulantzas Insti­tute in Athens. She has close con­nec­tions with civ­il soci­ety orga­ni­za­tions such as the Cor­po­rate Europe Obser­va­to­ry and the ATTAC net­work. Her research inter­ests include macro­eco­nom­ic pol­i­cy, gov­er­nance, pri­va­ti­za­tion, bank­ing and finance. She has pub­lished wide­ly in these areas.
